BRIAN COUCH - GUITARS, KEYBOARDS, and VOCALS

Brought up in a musical family, Brian was exposed from all kinds of music from an early age, from jazz from his dad, Sergio Mendes, and Broadway soundtracks from his mom, and the whole gamut of 60s and 70s music from his five older siblings. Watching his brother Denis play drums in early bands was the trigger to make music of his own. After his first paid gig at age 16, Brian spent time crafting original music and close vocal harmony with Hawaii’s Minus One. Cover bands like Modern Day Chumps followed, performing at college parties, the Waikiki scene, and playing an extensive military circuit with Bonnie and the Clyde.

Throughout this time, Brian expanded his guitar and vocal skills, but also developed a working knowledge of keyboards and bass, which has served him well throughout his career. After moving to Seattle, Brian continued with a mix of original and cover material, getting stage time with Lost Cat, Sisyphus Quits, Wild Life and Nuclear Suitcase.

The 2000s brought Brian to the Midwest, where he has continued making his mark in the Kansas City music scene. Toy Box, Boston tribute 4th Stage, and a long stint with KC diehards Switch are among his credentials. After a timeout during the covid era, Brian stumbled across an ad from Vinyl Revival looking for a new guitarist.

Says Brian: "I’d been keeping my eyes open for something different, and this really caught my attention. The setlist draws from a lot of material I’d never had a chance to play growing up, which was a real attraction for me. And once we got together, it was obvious there was a level of musicianship in this band that opened up a lot of potential doors. I’m a huge fan of big vocal harmonies, and these guys really know how to deliver the goods. And with the live shows, it's great to see so many people come out and react so strongly to hearing these great songs they grew up with. I feel privileged to be a part of Vinyl Revival."
